About Listen, I've spent five years at a giant university. I know what it's like to have crummy instructors, terrible TA's, and courses where you're just a meatbag taking up a seat. It sucks, and that system is broken. Most tutors out there learn how to teach from this system. They're trained by the same people that are in front of the class. You know, that person that's failing you. Well, I'm not like that. My experience in teaching comes from outside that box. It's a combination of working in teaching research for two years, five years of doing math in groups and alone, and staying on the cutting edge of instruction and pedagogy. Let's face facts, you don't need someone who can teach you differential geometry. You need someone who can help you understand. My specialization is in communication and instruction, and I've learned from some of the best. ApproachMy approach is two-stepped:
It's pretty basic, but most institutions have to throw millions of dollars to try to convince stubborn professors and TA's to do it. I add it in for free, because we're wasting our time without it, and I want you to do well. My lesson plans aren't simply lists of material to cover either. They're designed to motivate self-learning. I'll likely be giving you extra assignments as a result. They wont be graded, but they'll help you get the basic material down, so we can focus in on the difficult points. Or you can ask for a cram session. I understand how time is tight sometimes, and you really just need to be able to crank out the right answer on the exam. I won't do your assignments for you though. | Know-how

I live in the Glebe and work downtown. Email me and we'll figure out travel. Rates
Rates really depend on what you're looking to get. I do free consulting in person or over Skype, where we lay out the groundwork and make sure we're a good fit. My typical rate is $30/hr. That includes all lesson plans and other packages I may give you. |
